Greetings,

I see that the default installation of this extension does not allow searching for locations only by state (but requires city). I've noticed that this isn't ALWAYS the case for all states--certain state abbreviations return results. I'm hoping that there is a way to unlock this restraint so the users can search for locations by state, without specifying city/name/zip.

Has anyone had any experience making this modification?

Hi Dave,

The system converts the search into GPS coordinates and searches from a radius outward from that point.

What is happening is that the system is searching from the exact geographical center of the state, up to the radius set in the search. So if you have locations close to the center of the state, or its a smaller state then results may appear. You can get this to work a bit better by increasing the default search radius. This would yield more results.

This feature would be great also. i also had mentioned in the past that it would be beneficial to have the address input info broken down by fields (address, city, state, zip, etc.). This would help with bad address data, importing into store locator with addresses from another database.
